Baltic Sea Day will kick off Baltic Sea Campaign

The Baltic Sea Day is celebrated all around the Baltic Sea at the end of August and with this day we kick off the whole Baltic Sea Campaign.

The Baltic Sea Day, launched by the John Nurminen Foundation, is an annual day of celebration in honor of the sea with the objective to encourage citizens to enjoy the unique sea that belongs to us all. It is one day of celebrations followed by 365 days of concrete actions that benefit the sea. In addition to the celebrations, the purpose of the Baltic Sea Day is to provide information on the versatile nature, culture, and history of the Sea.

The first Baltic Sea Day was celebrated in 2019 in Finland but already early on the joint day was introduced in Estonia and Sweden. By the 4th year already more than 250 partners of all kinds of organizations, municipalities, companies, associations, research institutes, museums, schools, and restaurants took part in the celebrations by organizing open events or happenings for smaller groups.

The Baltic Sea Day is celebrated every year on the last Thursday in August with various rallies and events. This year in Finland we will gather together in Helsinki Esplanad Park to discuss the Baltic Sea in various aspects. The research vessel Aranda will be open to the public and after the event, it will start its Baltic Tour. Various events take place in Turku and the cities. In Stockholm, celebrations take place in Sverige Radio Berdwaldhallen and The National Maritime Museum.

There are many ways for you to participate, so do join in!
